- ➤ Cone Park winter tubing season is off to a great start today + mild temperatures keep the main hill in top shape, according to Sioux City Parks and Recreation Director Matt Salvatore. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux County will host its first-ever Battle of the Burger—restaurants from towns like Alton, Boyden, Granville and others will showcase their signature burgers from Feb. 1 to Feb. 28 to connect communities and support local dining. KTIV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Dordt University mourns 22-year-old student Nikolas Begalke (a business and soccer major) who died in an accident while skiing at the Hochzillertal Ski Resort in Austria on Jan. 3; officials ruled his death accidental with no negligence. KTIV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Billy Boy Drive Thru on Riverside Drive will close Monday, Jan. 12 for about three weeks for renovations (exhaust hoods, makeup air system and roof replacement). KTIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City Schools superintendent Juan Córdova resigned on Monday but will continue to receive pay until March 31, meaning he will not report to work for 12 weeks. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City schools’ board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Juan Córdova on Monday night after a closed session review, making his departure effective March 31. Associate Superintendent Angela Bemus will lead day-to-day operations as the board plans to name an interim superintendent. KTIV
