COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bridges West has shifted from transitional housing to a permanent model called Center Apartments. Alison Justice said the facility, which now houses 13 residents with 7 open units, will complete its transition by May — offering individual leases and fair market rents to better meet local housing needs.  KTIV
  • The Sioux County Battle of the Burger is underway with 239 votes cast + four burgers rated 9.0 or above from restaurants across the county in its opening week. Voters will continue to help decide which burger rises to the top as the event unfolds.  Sioux Country Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Sioux City School Board approved a plan Monday night to hire an interim superintendent to lead the schools through June 30, 2026 with a possible extension to next school year. The board will start a seven-day hiring process today and let the interim apply for the permanent job.  KTIV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The federal government approved $2.5 million for South Sioux City Fire Department to purchase a new aerial fire truck; it is scheduled to be built in 3-4 years with safety sensors that meet NFPA recommendations — serving Sioux City and neighboring areas without increasing property taxes.  KTIV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three Remsen St. Mary’s players—Hallie Bunkers, Grace Galles, and Brielle Schorg—returned to play on Senior Night Monday after a bus crash sidelined them for three months. Galles, preparing to graduate, scored her final bucket and said the recovery was helped by community support.  KTIV
