COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Center for Siouxland’s VITA tax program offers free IRS-approved tax help for qualified Siouxlanders earning up to $69,000, including elderly residents and non-English speakers. Appointments are available through mid-April and clients must bring a government ID, W-2s, plus any related documents.  KTIV
  • Orange City Area Health System pledged $75,000 toward a new emergency services facility in Hospers; the donation will be paid in three equal installments as part of a $2.8 million capital campaign supported by county & city officials.  KTIV
  • More than 50 Iowa National Guard soldiers returned home Wednesday from (a seven-month deployment) in the Middle East, and over 100 family members and fellow soldiers gathered in Sioux City to welcome them back with heartfelt support.  KTIV

  • KTIV News 4 in Sioux City announced that Lawton J. Dodd has been named News Director — he brings experience from Atlanta, Monterey, and Peoria and will lead the station's digital and on-air teams.  KTIV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sioux City Public Library will host a series of activities next month as part of its fourth-year Sioux City Reads initiative — a program that offers local residents a chance to engage in community reading events.  Sioux City Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sheldon High School’s multi-phase renovation nears completion — final work on locker rooms, classrooms and secure entries will finish this summer. The upgrades address aging infrastructure and modern learning needs.  KTIV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sioux Center Police Officer Tyler Kanaly returned Wednesday afternoon from his second deployment in Iraq, welcomed by neighbors waving flags — a bright tribute along his street. He now resumes his police duties while reconnecting with family.  Sioux Country Radio
  • The House Higher Education Committee passed bills that limit university DEI programs and expand career and technical education options, as well as restrict certain hiring practices and course content. Legislators said the measures will affect both public and private colleges + may face further debate on the House floor.  KTIV
