- ➤ Catholic Charities celebrated the grand opening of Angeline’s Wing for Children & Families on Monday at 1601 Military Road, providing a new resource for local children & families. Sioux City Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Hard Rock Hotel + Casino announced that Grammy-nominate country singer Lee Brice will headline the 2026 Battery Summer Concert Series at Battery Park. The show will take place this summer, bringing live country music to local concert fans. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center honors York (a key Corps of Discovery member) by highlighting his historic role as one of the first Black figures on the expedition. The center invites visitors to explore local history and his connection to our community on Larsen Park Road. KTIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The River Valley Community School District approved a 4-day school week for next school year on Feb.-11 to boost enrollment and attract staff. The district will extend daily hours by 20-30 minutes and keep Mondays off except for special classes, with a board meeting set on March-23. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City North High School culinary students are practicing for the state competition at the Iowa ProStart Invitational next Tuesday as they rehearse their restaurant management presentation with business partners and administrators; these classes also teach key business and people skills for future careers. - ➤ Sioux City Schools announced a $25,000 stipend for Associate Superintendent Angela Bemus to cover extra superintendent duties at the district. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ Sioux City native Dr. Paul Berger III, a Sanford Health pulmonologist, says early lung cancer screening is key as cancer rates rise. Sanford Health will soon expand its Dakota Dunes clinic (350 Oak Tree Lane) to offer more specialty care options for local patients. KTIV
