CRIME NEWS
- ➤ T.J. Johnson, a Spencer resident (stranded in Puerto Vallarta by cartel violence after a drug cartel leader's killing), returned home Wednesday night on a Minneapolis flight after resolving ticketing issues with help from local and national leaders. KTIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MMCRU hosted its first Career Connections fair on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the high school (with 56 businesses, 11 speakers and 190 students) to showcase local job openings and internships. KTIV
- ➤ St. Luke's College and Morningside University showcased their (newly updated) radiologic technology labs Wednesday. The demonstration let students and staff explore advanced imaging equipment at the campuses. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ MMCRU’s FFA program in Marcus now features a permanent mini farm on school grounds where students gain hands-on experience with goats and pigs. The program is part of National FFA Week and aims to build practical skills for future agricultural careers. KTIV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Sioux City's Northshore Drive reconstruction will begin early March 2026 as bids for the project open next week. City officials expect the road to remain open-to-traffic until Apr. 1 and then reopen before school starts in August. KTIV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mateo, the first baby born in Sioux City in 2026, has reached a 4 lb milestone after overcoming NEC and emergency surgery in Omaha. His progress raises hopes that he will return home to Storm Lake before summer. KTIV
- ➤ UnityPoint Health Sioux City is beginning the regulatory process to bring open-heart surgery back to its North & Downtown campuses, aiming to offer local care instead of forcing patients to travel for treatment. The planned effort could take several months. KTIV
