- ➤ Janna Vander Sluis, a 29-year-old licensed mental health therapist from Le Mars, has welcomed 12 foster placements and made her home more child-friendly with a sensory room. - ➤ Sioux City police say a 17-year-old male pleaded not guilty after a shooting occurred on Feb. 14 at an apartment complex (4820 Fourth Ave.) in Morningside. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ The 29th Street reconstruction project will begin next week and is funded with local funds—Bainbridge Construction, LLC was awarded the $5,987,422.89 contract on Jan. 13. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City residents are worried about a steep property tax increase as the City Council may raise the maximum levy to roughly $17.66 in FY 2026 — 20.08% higher than in FY 2025. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ The South Mulberry Street improvements project will start on April 1 and is expected to be finished in late summer—according to the Sioux City Engineering Division. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ A new report from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute shows that Iowa ranks among the top five states for excessive drinking, with 25% of adults reporting binge, heavy, underage, or pregnancy drinking based on 2022 CDC data.
