CRIME NEWS

  • At the Woodbury County Court, several Sioux City residents were sentenced for robbery, theft, identity theft, failing to appear, and controlled substance charges with outcomes ranging from deferred judgments or probation to 15 years in prison—while a North Sioux City resident received a suspended sentence for firearm possession.  Sioux City Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A proposed 87-acre Union Crossing project in North Sioux City will move forward after two failed efforts to stop a $10 million tax increment financing district have been rejected—city officials say the TIF will keep property taxes low. The development will include a mix of commercial spaces and 116 new homes to help address local housing needs.  Sioux City Journal
