- ➤ Phil Zeutenhorst, a volunteer firefighter at Hospers, returned home yesterday after four months recovering from burn injuries sustained in a training exercise – local residents and first responders lined the streets with flags and signs to welcome him back. KTIV
- ➤ The Stahlecker family donated a mini Caring Cradle with Brynlee's name to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's on Tuesday, Mar. 31, and will donate a second cradle to Floyd Valley Hospital, offering comfort for families spending time with fragile newborns. - ➤ Over the weekend, 273 firefighters from 42 fire departments & multiple support agencies fought a 7-mile grass fire that burned 3,500 acres near Bronson and Lawton. Emergency officials urge residents to follow burn restrictions amid ongoing windy, dry conditions. KTIV

ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews met in Bronson on Sunday, Mar. 29 to assess damage from a grass fire that burned nearly 7.5 miles by 1.5 miles in Woodbury County and spread into parts of Plymouth County (evacuations were conducted to protect residents) as aerial imagery and volunteer support aided recovery efforts. KTIV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ McCook Lake Association will turn on pumps today to refill the lake using Missouri River water + South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks will lift wake restrictions for boats even though the lake stays seven feet below average; officials expect two-inch daily rises to fill it by Memorial Day weekend. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa Senate approved a bill to waive tuition and fees for disabled veterans at public universities, sending it to Governor Reynolds for final review. Veterans must have a 100% disability rating and have exhausted other federal and state aid (House File 2491). KTIV

- ➤ Sioux City's record-breaking fisherman Jakob Mackey caught a 71-pound, 8-ounce grass carp at Bacon Creek Park on Aug. 10 last year. The 26-year-old angler said he aims to share the strong fishing (a top spot for local anglers). Sioux City Journal
