COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Gary Brown traveled to North Carolina to give a mini statue called Spirit of Siouxland to 4-year-old Jakob Reynolds—whose grandfather, Dennis Nielsen, is known for his heroic rescue during Flight 232—and Jakob is battling leukemia while the gift is meant to inspire him and honor his family legacy. - ➤ Siouxland Christian School’s theatre department launched the Cinderella’s Care Closet Socks and Shoes Drive on Monday to benefit the Siouxland Foster Closet by collecting 500 pairs each of new socks and new or like-new shoes for foster kids. Donations will be accepted during school hours until April 26 while live productions of Cinderella start on April 24 at 7 p.m.—the drive supports local families caring for foster children. KTIV

- ➤ Little Chicago Deli announced on Facebook that it will close on April 12 and may reopen later this year or early next year – customers with gift cards are urged to use them before the closing. SiouxlandProud
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City police charged Angela Bino, 60, with first-degree murder after she killed her 77-year-old mother on Oct. 26, 2023, following long-standing fights at home—she said she had had enough during police questioning and pleaded not guilty. Sioux City Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The annual Shrine Circus will run from April 9 through April 13 with shows starting at 6:30 p.m. on April 9 and the final performance at 5 p.m. on April 13 — KCAU 9’s Travis Chinn will be the honorary ring master on April 10 — as the event offers a series of scheduled circus performances for local audiences. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City will begin replacing 1,200 feet of water main on Nebraska Street on April 14, closing two lanes to leave one for through traffic from Gordon Drive to 3rd Street. The project will also replace storm sewer intakes, patch pavement, and update light poles & landscaping and is expected to finish in September. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ The Sioux City Police Department will host a town hall meeting on April 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sioux City Public Museum—where residents can ask about crime statistics, strategic planning and partnerships—and give feedback on police plans. KTIV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Warren Edwards from Kansas stopped in Sioux City on Tuesday as he begins his 50-day challenge to exercise in all 50 states while sampling his favorite foods and drinks — he plans to visit Watertown, South Dakota next and encourages others to get active. Edwards told Guinness World Records he wanted to improve his health and share his journey with local communities. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ Sioux City hospital and Knoepfler Collision and Detail Center will offer a free car seat safety check for families on April 5 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 100 Jackson Street; Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) will inspect car seats to ensure they are installed correctly. KTIV
