- ➤ Dave Dreeszen, who led the newsroom as interim editor since October, has been named permanent editor of the Sioux City Journal. He will oversee daily news coverage and guide long-term editorial direction effective immediately. Sioux City Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Woodbury Central hosted a STEM day for kindergarten to fifth graders who explored construction careers by building bridges and fans, while high school volunteers guided the hands-on projects to spark interest in science and engineering. KTIV
- ➤ Western Iowa Tech Community College announced three finalists for president (Michelle Allmendinger, Terry Lindsay and Terry Gaalswyk) who will visit campus next week for interviews. Sioux City Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials from North Sioux City, Union County, the McCook Lake Association and the Izaak Walton League said water tests (showing safe conditions) confirm the lake’s recovery after the 2024 flood. The lake will reopen this Memorial Day as 64 tons of debris and sediment have been removed and cleanup continues. KTIV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ One block of 39th Street is closed for repairs from Monday, Apr. 6 to Friday, Apr. 10, so motorists should use alternate routes during the work period. Sioux City Journal
