- ➤ Sioux Center native Taunya De Weerd has spent nearly a decade serving children and families in Haiti through Kingdom Kids, an after-school program that provides meals, tutoring and Bible lessons. Her family now faces an uncertain future as the CHNV humanitarian parole program, which once allowed them to enter the country legally, will end on April 24—leaving little time to plan. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Rush Bowls opened its only Iowa location in late March at Lakeport Commons at 5001 Sergeant Road — the shop is owned by Jason Allen, who spent nearly 25 years with the city. Allen said the healthy bowls, made with fresh fruits and vegetables, quickly attracted families and young people in Sioux City. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ State Representative J.D. Scholten—former pro baseball player—said he is considering a run for the U.S. Senate and may face Senator Joni Ernst if he runs. He will decide his next steps after the legislative session ends later this month or early next month. KTIV
