- ➤ The iconic “Welcome to Sioux City” sign, a local landmark since 1941, will be refurbished and relocated by its new owners Skip and Cathy Perley. The sign will be removed in the coming days from its current spot—1137 Dace Ave—and a new prominent location is expected by spring. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ Siouxland GO will host its 15th annual Innovation Market—an event where new businesses can network and share ideas even if they do not win. The market gives entrepreneurs a springboard to boost their business plans. SiouxlandProud
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Community Action Agency of Siouxland has run its Head Start Program for nearly 50 years, offering 29 classrooms and themed activities this week to prepare children 6 weeks to 4 years for kindergarten; families are invited to apply even though the program is at maximum capacity—ensuring early learning for local kids. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Siouxlanders must show a Real ID to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities or power plants starting on May 7 — currently, 75% of Iowa IDs meet this requirement. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City City Council voted on Monday afternoon to appoint Mike Collett as interim City Manager after Bob Padmore retired on April 4—Collett will run daily city operations until a permanent hire is named by summer. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City Human Rights Commission will host a free Fair Housing workshop on Tuesday, April 22 at the Sioux City Public Museum at 607 4th Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The workshop will teach renters about their rights and how to recognize and prevent illegal housing discrimination. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City council members deferred a vote on a proposal to cut the Human Rights Commission budget by nearly 40%—a $140,000 reduction—during Monday’s meeting. They will revisit the issue next Monday at 4 p.m. as they plan the Fiscal Year 2026 operating budget. KTIV
