- ➤ Reverend John Keehner will be ordained as the eighth bishop today at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City — he will succeed Bishop Walker Nickless, who has served since 2006 and will retire to bishop emeritus status. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ At a Sioux City oath ceremony at Mary J. Treglia Community House on Thursday, 30 candidates became naturalized U.S. citizens — including Anita Sayonkon Florkiah who arrived in 2016 seeking a better life with her children. Her son Hansen, a member of the Army National Guard, expressed pride in her achievement as the League of Women Voters of Iowa assisted many new citizens in registering to vote. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City held a prescribed burn at Ravine Park on Thursday to clear dead plants and control invasive species, though weather conditions may have caused a schedule change.
