- ➤ Dozens of Siouxland veterans will depart today on Midwest Honor Flight Mission 29 — a trip to visit Washington, D.C. monuments — leaving Sioux Falls at 5:15 a.m. and joining a welcome committee at 9 p.m. KTIV
- ➤ Siouxland Food Bank will take part in the 34th annual Stamp Out Hunger event, offering support for local hunger relief efforts. The nonprofit is partnering with community leaders & volunteers to serve residents in need. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ Sioux City businessman Joel Magee relaunches Coney Island at 2519 Hamilton Blvd using the *original recipe* five years after Marketplace Coney Island closed and nine years after downtown Coney Island shuttered following Steve Margeas' death. - ➤ Danny McCune, a senior at Siouxland Christian School, has been selected as the 2026 Sioux City Rotary Club Student of the Year — chosen from all previous Rotary Students of the Month. The award recognizes his academic excellence during the last school year. Sioux City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ In Oct. 2025, Debbie Goettsch delivered her baby Holden at 29 weeks after noticing distress before a church event; rapid hospital care and help from Children's Miracle Network kept the baby alive, allowing the family to stay in Sioux City where Holden now receives therapies. KTIV
- ➤ Children’s Miracle Network is hosting a mediathon to raise funds for pediatric healthcare in Siouxland, organized by the St. Luke’s Foundation with support from KTIV and Powell Broadcasting, and it runs today through Thursday, May 7. KTIV
