- ➤ Over 100 volunteers gathered on Saturday at McCook Lake in South Dakota to remove debris left behind by last June’s flooding—local groups including members of Briar Cliff Football joined the effort. - ➤ Sioux City Railroad Museum held a Grand Re-Opening Family Day on Saturday with train rides, pony rides, and Lego train displays to mark its recovery from last summer’s floods that forced a closure. The museum now offers free admission from Thursday through Sunday and, as President Larry Obermeyer said, volunteers and community donations put in tens of thousands of hours to restore the site—bringing back a beloved local landmark. - ➤ Twenty-three Dakota Valley woodworking students are crafting planter boxes for Siouxland Habitat for Humanity as an end-of-year project by measuring, cutting, gluing, nailing and sanding boards.
