- ➤ The 33rd Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive collected 16,652 pounds of non-perishable food over the weekend for the Food Bank of Siouxland as 25 volunteers sorted and packed donations—helping the bank provide meals to households facing food insecurity. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ The Sioux City school board approved a small change to its wages contract with the teachers union on Monday+ the revision made minor adjustments to the earlier agreement. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City West High senior Chance Riley was named Rotary Club Student of the Year after being chosen from previous honorees—he received a monetary award and donation in his name for a local nonprofit. Nine students were honored during the academic year. Sioux City Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra filed paperwork on Monday with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board to run for governor in 2026—this move comes after Governor Kim Reynolds announced she would not seek re-election and as State Auditor Rob Sand also launched his campaign. KTIV
- ➤ The Iowa House passed the pharmacy benefit manager reform bill on Monday and sent it to Governor Kim Reynolds’ desk for her signature—this bill will require PBMs to reimburse pharmacies based on the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost and include a professional dispensing fee. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ Sioux City Council voted Monday to rescind its affirmative action and minority business enterprise programs—an effort to avoid losing millions in federal grants as directed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The council also approved a $378,637.74 settlement for PFAS contamination at Southbridge and will refine its equal employment policies as allowed by law. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City Council voted 4—1 today against removing traffic lights at the 10th and Douglas and Morningside and Peters intersections amid safety and parking concerns, and they also ended the city’s Affirmative Action and Minority Business Enterprise programs to comply with federal and state mandates to remove DEI policies—Mayor Scott said the move helps avoid losing millions in funding.
