- ➤ The Sioux City Community School District Board has extended Jim Vanderloo’s interim superintendent contract for one year as contract negotiations continue after a comprehensive superintendent search. The board looks forward to finalizing his agreement to support student academic success. KTIV

- ➤ Dordt University will use $430,000 from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to build a stormwater pond on campus that will ease water surges, control floods and serve as a learning space — it is one of four urban water quality projects in the area. KTIV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill on Tuesday that removes the need for insurance approval before cancer screenings so patients can get tests faster — the law sets deadlines for insurers to review claims and ensures a human element in decisions; it takes effect July 1. KTIV

- ➤ Siouxland 10th-grade teen Archer Small, who once battled deep loneliness and suicidal thoughts, is urging open mental health conversations as local businesses and the Mental Health Center back his advocacy during Mental Health Awareness Month — encouraging everyone to speak up if they need help.
