- ➤ On Friday morning, the 4th Annual Sioux City Metro Bike to Work Day brought over 100 cyclists to the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce parking lot—where local health and fitness vendors offered giveaways and local eateries served breakfast. The event, part of a national effort to promote active transportation, encouraged residents to consider riding their bikes instead of driving every day. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City officials say the riverfront bike trail remains closed from Chris Larson Park boat launch to the South Dakota border due to flood damage, and permanent repairs including revetment, trail construction, fencing & turf reinforcement mat will go out for bids on June 17 with work finishing by late October. City and regional agencies are also advancing projects like the Floyd Connector Trail and railroad crossing improvements to better connect trails while keeping users safe. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City recreation coordinator Rachael Eskins said this year's Cone Park Trailfest will be held on May 31—an event that will bring local residents together for outdoor activities. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ William Swearingen, a disabled veteran who has lived near Gordon Drive and South Fairmount Street for six years, said he was worried because drivers ignored the 35 mph limit — risking pedestrians while seniors crossed the street. Sioux City Police noted that excessive speed contributed to eight accidents at the intersection — and urged drivers to slow down. KTIV
- ➤ Camp High Hopes returns with Rib Fest 2025 at Battery Park at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on June 21 featuring a rib cook-off, live music by Sons of 20 starting at noon, and family events. A drive-through rib sale will be held on June 7 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. with proceeds supporting Camp High Hopes programs. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ The bands for June Jam have been announced and nearly 20 local groups will perform on June 21 on Historic Fourth Street in Sioux City. The free, all-day concert will start at noon plus offer games, food trucks and vendors until midnight. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ The Mid-America Air Museum in Sioux City welcomed a 1966 Aero Commander 200 donated by Steve Bauman of Kingman, Arizona—he flew the plane 10 hours from Arizona to Sioux City on Thursday. The plane, which once cost $29,000 and is now appraised at $200,000, will be displayed later this summer to share its unique story. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ Dordt University is renovating the Rozenboom Athletic Center — this phase two of a three-phase project will update locker rooms and expand the training room to better serve student-athletes, with work scheduled for completion in late fall. - ➤ City engineers announced that a section of S. Glass Street between Chicago Avenue and Dodge Avenue will close on May 21 for a water main replacement project + work is expected to be finished in 40 working days if weather permits. SiouxlandProud
