CULTURE NEWS

  • 2026 Downtown Live returns to its longtime venue downtown today with a new lineup of music acts offering fresh sounds to local fans — continuing the area's vibrant music tradition.  Sioux City Journal
  • Live music + community spirit returns as Downtown Partners brings the Downtown Live concert series back to Historic 4th on Virginia Street between 3rd and 4th, starting June 5 with Dan Rodriguez and followed by shows on July 3, August 7, and September 4; tickets cost $5.  KTIV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Regular unleaded gas rose 9 cents from last week and averaged $4.28 statewide the week of May 20; local pumps in Sioux City show a similar increase.  Sioux City Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Weather Service confirmed 16 tornadoes struck Siouxland from Sunday’s storms, including two near Sergeant Bluff and Whispering Creek; officials reported wind gusts reached up to 90 mph with intensities from EF0 to unclassified.  KTIV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation yesterday for Woodbury, Emmet, Palo Alto, Plymouth, and Pocahontas counties after severe weather over the weekend. The proclamation activates state resources and assistance programs that offer up to 7,000 dollars for home repairs and recovery efforts.  KTIV
  • Lawton's only tornado siren stayed silent on Sunday, May 17 due to a communications failure during severe weather & officials say the issue is fixed as county managers begin discussing backup text alerts for residents.  KTIV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Leaders from Agape Community Services celebrated the start of construction on a long-term addiction treatment center on a 40-acre campus; the facility will house 65 men for a 9-to-12 month program — funded by a $2 million state check — and will finish construction in June 2027.  KTIV
