CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Four air conditioning units were stolen from local homes over the past month—three in Sioux City, including two from Habitat for Humanity projects and one from Kinetico on May 4, with the fourth taken from a contractor’s home in South Sioux City, and police call the thefts a felony crime urging residents to improve their security. - ➤ Sioux City Marina is back and ready for Memorial Day weekend after a year-long closure as General Manager Jason Addington and city staff work to improve the facility with a faster fuel system and an expanded ship store, with slip pickups starting Friday and the official opening on Saturday, May 24. Meanwhile, Jolly’s on the River stays closed this summer because it suffered severe damage from erosion — and officials are checking options for next season. KTIV
- ➤ Governor Kim Reynolds introduced a new Continuum of Care grant on Tuesday that offered up to $300,000 over three years for partnerships between preschools and child care centers to provide full-day care for children and working families—he also launched the Statewide Solutions Fund for boosting child care worker wages and a pilot program to extend Child Care Assistance eligibility.
