- ➤ The Sioux City Warming Shelter is pausing donations for two weeks to reorganize its warehouse for construction that will create separate areas for male clients and for female/children clients—while still offering walkers and crutches to those in need. The shelter said it will post updates as it clears its inventory. SiouxlandProud
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Tastee In and Out introduced its new food truck on March 8 to keep serving customers during planned street work. Employees now work in the mobile unit and drive it around Siouxland—drawing long lines in communities like Sheldon and Onawa. SiouxlandProud
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig announced that 33 schools—such as OABCIG, Sheldon, Hinton, West Sioux, and Westwood Community School Districts—joined a one-year pilot program to help school food services buy local products from Iowa farmers and businesses. SiouxlandProud
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Sioux City announced the Fairmount Street Watermain Replacement Project will begin on June 9 pending weather as the street from Leech Avenue to the south side of Gordon Drive will be closed until October. The project will replace the watermain along with sanitary sewer brick manholes, storm sewers, streetlights and sidewalks, and the outside eastbound lane will be closed for three weeks for utility connections + detours will use South Westcott and Leech Avenue. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City's UnityPoint Health — St. Luke's confirmed on Thursday that its division will acquire MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center along with affiliated clinics and home care clinics, and the deal will close later this year pending final conditions. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ Local IHSAA boys soccer playoff games were held on May 29 — Bishop Heelan defeated MOC-Floyd Valley 6 to 0, West Sioux beat Western Christian 4 to 0, Sioux Center won 4 to 0 over Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Spencer won 7 to 1 over Storm Lake, and Indianola beat Denison-Schleswig 3 to 1.
