- ➤ The Honor Flight stopped at the Navy Memorial Plaza in downtown Washington, D.C.—a tribute to veterans from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine, where Vietnam veteran Steven Olson recalled his time on a ship from 1971 to 1974 during two recoveries. Many Navy veterans from Siouxland, including longtime friends Tom Hone and John Jeff Crick III, are set to visit on Tuesday to honor their service. KTIV

- ➤ Siouxlanders Amanda Barondeau and Virginia Anderson run Dream Vacations, a home-based travel franchise that helps residents book and manage vacations to places like the Caribbean, Europe and Hawaii. Barondeau, a former teacher with a Spanish degree (three years of travel experience), and Anderson, who started by planning Disney trips for friends (with two years of industry experience), earn commissions from travel suppliers. - ➤ On Saturday afternoon, the Martha Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution dedicated a memorial bench in the Never Forget Garden at Siouxland Freedom Park to honor soldiers and helpers from the Revolutionary War—highlighting years of careful planning for the upcoming July 4 anniversary. - ➤ In June 1925 the Chamber of Commerce sent a telegram to the U.S. Navy Department asking that the giant dirigible USS Los Angeles fly over Sioux City on its way to Minneapolis for a Norwegian centennial celebration — the airship was given by Germany to help settle war debts. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ Sioux City council will revise the city's fireworks ordinance because state law forces changes+ officials said no other options are available. The revisions stem from meeting agenda details that leave the city no alternative. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Col. Adam M. 'Ace' Carlson was formally handed command of the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City during a ceremony Sunday afternoon, and he now leads the unit as it prepares for upcoming missions. Sioux City Journal
