The Iowa Great Lakes Connection Trail held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Clay County section yesterday at 5:45 p.m. in Siouxland, where cyclists could begin at North School Park or at the Cooperative Energy parking lot—this new trail is part of a plan to eventually create a paved route from Okoboji to Des Moines.

An Omaha man was found guilty of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after his car left I-29 near Salix in February 2023 and killed Ashley Bond, and on June 6 he was sentenced to 25 years in jail—he must also pay $150,000 to Bond’s family.
