GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kim Reynolds vetoed House File 383, a bill that would have allowed prescription and distribution of synthetic psilocybin after federal approval — a decision that surprised a key lawmaker given the bill's unanimous support in both chambers. Reynolds explained the veto was meant to allow more time to review public health, law enforcement and regulatory systems before the state acts on psilocybin. Sioux City Journal

Mariannette Miller-Meeks of southeast Iowa voted for a reconciliation bill that cuts clean energy tax credits while keeping some key credits—she said the move would protect families and support domestic energy production. - ➤ On July 1st, Sergeant Bluff fire chief Anthony Gaul will officially start his full-time role after 16 years as a volunteer, working alongside his sons Carson and Cy who grew up with firefighting and train regularly at the station.
