- ➤ Sioux City Summer Fest began on June 20 and will run through July 4, offering carnival rides, food, games, and music to local residents. Set up was completed at the Tyson Events Center and the festival features daily operating hours that vary—ranging from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on some days and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on others. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ The Iowa Department of Transportation will close the Lewis and Clark Riverfront Trail at Chris Larsen Park under I-29 near the Floyd River from June 23 to June 27 for work. Limited access will also be in effect under Highway 20 near Chautauqua Park through August — fences and flaggers will help guide trail users. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ Firefighters responded Friday morning to a fire at a Summit Street home on Sioux City's north side where residents safely evacuated with no injuries—officials noted visible exterior damage and are still investigating the cause. KTIV
- ➤ Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Dakota County when a Jeep Liberty Renegade failed to yield at the intersection of Highway 110 and Highway 20 east of South Sioux City and was hit by a Ford F-150. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ Morningside University lost its president, Albert Mosley, to Bethune Cookman and is now on the hunt for a new college president — university officials confirmed the leadership search has begun. Sioux City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Iowa officials warn that proposed Medicaid tax cuts may force rural hospitals to reduce services, lay off workers or close. The Senate bill will lower the provider tax gradually starting in 2027 — a change that could cut Medicaid funding by $4 billion over 10 years. Sioux City Journal
