COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Sioux City Farmers Market hosted its First Taste of Summer event this weekend on Pearl Street where families enjoyed live music, fresh produce, and refreshing beverages—supporting local vendors. The market will operate until October 26.  SiouxlandProud
  • After losing farmer Dana Sitzmann in a tragic accident last October, his family held an auction Monday morning in Kingsley where they sold decades of farm equipment to settle his estate — honoring his legacy. The family leased over 500 acres to neighbor Mitch Mortiz, a 26-year-old aspiring farmer who planted corn and beans this spring and will harvest his crops by mid-September.  KTIV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 27-year-old man drowned over the weekend at Kellen’s Ponderosa and his body was recovered by the Plymouth County sheriff's department – alongside officials from the Le Mars Police Department, Department of Natural Resources, Le Mars Fire and Rescue and Sioux County Dive Team.  SiouxlandProud

CRIME NEWS

  • Castellanos-Rosales testified Monday that he did not kill Jordan Beardshear after a violent dispute in her Dakota Dunes apartment, where she attacked him with a kitchen knife during a custody fight and he fled with their son + he now faces first-degree murder charges.  Sioux City Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Saturday in the Park’s Arts Alley returns this year with over 25 local and regional vendors selling arts, clothing, and other goods—Sioux City residents can look forward to a diverse selection of creative products as announced on Jun 23.  SiouxlandProud
  • Sioux City hosted its second annual June Jam on Historic Fourth (between Floyd Boulevard and Virginia Street) where local residents enjoyed live 90s music, games, and drink specials from noon until midnight.  SiouxlandProud

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Decorated World War II Army Ranger Hollis D. Stabler, a member of the Omaha Tribe who earned a Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Star, will receive a Congressional Gold Medal—one of the highest civilian awards.  SiouxlandProud
