- ➤ In April at the 4th Annual Heartland Counseling Services Gala, the Westrich family auctioned a Mini-Aussie puppy that is now training to become a certified therapy dog—aimed at easing anxiety and improving social skills in schools. The puppy will join schools after it turns one and receives board approval. KTIV
- ➤ A group of bicyclists on a 3,800-mile charity ride passed through Siouxland on Friday as they continued their trip from the Atlantic in Florida to the Pacific in Oregon. The cyclists ride to raise funds for the Fuller Center for Housing and to repair and build homes along their route—covering 12 states. KTIV
- ➤ Sioux City Animal Rescue officials rescued animals from a property on the 2700 block of 41st Street on Friday morning — they recovered over 100 chickens, many of which were dead, and five dogs with no details yet on the owner. SiouxlandProud
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lopez was arrested after a collision with a tractor near Alton—charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license and cited for failing to yield the right of way. Sioux City Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Saturday in the Park will be held at Grandview Park on July 5 and will feature two stages with local talent such as Ralph Dittman and GhostCat along with national headliners like Teddy Swims and That Mexican OT—attendees will also enjoy fireworks, a Kid’s Zone, diverse food vendors, and a bus service from Tyson Events Center to ease parking. - ➤ Today, LifeServe Blood Center and Wings Air Rescue are hosting a summer blood drive at 6101 Pershing Street near the Sioux Gateway Airport from 9 a.m. to noon. The drive comes as summer donations drop + the need for blood remains high. SiouxlandProud
