- ➤ Residents in Sloan hosted the annual Amy — Jake Lander Memorial Softball Tournament as a fundraiser in memory of Amy and Jake Lander while funds raised will be used to add digital signs at Westwood High School. - ➤ The McCook Lake Izaak Walton League held its first-ever Christmas in July rummage sale to give free holiday decorations to those who lost homes in the 2024 floods—Renae Hansen said the event was a key step in helping neighbors start recovery. - ➤ A teen suspect was arrested in May following a Sioux City stabbing at a party — he told police he had helped break up a fight between two groups and was approached from behind as he walked away. Sioux City Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The council will vote on a development agreement that lets Siouxland Developers, LLC purchase a property for $50,000 and invest $5 million to build a 65,000 square-foot multi-sport complex — a project that will soon create a new venue for local sports. Sioux City Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Skaters gathered at Cook Park on Saturday for the annual River-Cade Andy Langin Memorial Skateboard Contest hosted by the Sioux City Skateboard Association, where competitors of all ages vied for trophies and cash prizes—proceeds will help expand the Sioux City Skate Park.
