- ➤ On July 18, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed a bill banning lab-grown meat while Sioux City Miracle League players prepared for a 24-hour classic game. A Sioux City man also caught a multi-colored muskie weighing more than 45 pounds in Canada — a standout catch that drew local acclaim. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ Sioux City will host National Night Out on August 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.—community events at several local parks and churches will offer games, free food and a chance for residents to meet law enforcement and first responders. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ With RAGBRAI LII set to begin this weekend, Albrecht Cycle in Sioux City is busy repairing and tuning bikes—technicians are also receiving shipments from out-of-town riders to ensure smooth rides during the event. SiouxlandProud
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The murder trial from Monona County has been moved to Sioux City after Judge Hindman ruled that many potential jurors had already formed opinions about the case—making a fair trial difficult. Sioux City Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Disaster Case Advocacy Outreach Coordinators will visit Clay, O'Brien, and Sioux counties starting July 23 to help flood victims work through FEMA, insurance, SBA, and other aid programs. They will work in pairs wearing neon vests and branded shirts to show residents they will never ask for personal identification — keeping the recovery process safe and clear. SiouxlandProud
