- ➤ Siouxland Habitat for Humanity held its third annual Home-In-One Golf Tournament and Fundraiser at Green Valley Golf Course on July 23 where groups of four golfers played an eighteen hole round to raise funds for building affordable homes. - ➤ A 30-year-old Sioux City man will serve more than five years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon—reflecting a strict enforcement of federal gun laws. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ Students gathered on Wednesday at Western Iowa Tech Industrial Technology Center for the third annual Youth Welding Camp where they learned welding skills and created sculptures — emphasizing the importance of safety with personal protective gear. - ➤ Iowa DOT said that nighttime ramp closures will affect the Sioux City metro as signs placed the morning before and message signs directing drivers during the closures — drivers are urged to take alternate routes. SiouxlandProud
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State officials confirmed a measles case on July 23 in a western Iowa adult who did not travel outside Iowa and likely experienced mild symptoms. Officials say the fully vaccinated person was contagious last week while visiting businesses in Sioux Center, Sheldon and Hull and may have exposed others amid a total of eight measles cases confirmed this year. - ➤ Nash Keen—an Iowa baby born at 21 weeks—set a Guinness World Records title for prematurity and celebrated his first birthday on July 5 as he thrives at home.
