- ➤ On Saturday, the 15th annual Putting for Pooches event took place at Covington Links Golf Course in South Sioux City where golfers played with their dogs to raise funds for Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue — a program dedicated to finding homes for adoptable pets. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ More than 10,000 homes lost power in Siouxland after Monday’s storm—MidAmerican Energy said 219 customers in Sioux City and 10,502 in Storm Lake lost service. Officials added that at least 40 outages affected parts of northwest Iowa and southeastern South Dakota as of 11:05 p.m. on July 28. SiouxlandProud
- ➤ Sailor, a 1 to 2-year-old brown tabby cat, was found on the 1000 block of 15th Street — a friendly stray who gets along well with other cats — and is now available for adoption. SiouxlandProud

- ➤ A South Sioux City man identified as Hassan was charged with hitting a woman several times on the head and then stomping on it—court documents say her forehead showed an injury matching his stomp pattern. Sioux City Journal

- ➤ JR Pearson of Marcus has spent over 40 years collecting and restoring over 300 pieces of horse-drawn farm equipment for display at The Barnes Horse Drawn Vehicle Museum—where tours take two to four hours. - ➤ Sioux City Public Schools Foundation hosted the fifth annual Golf FORE Education Celebrity Classic on Monday with Heisman Trophy winners Johnny Rodgers and Eric Crouch—they welcomed an anonymous $100,000 donation that will fund trade, technical, and arts programs for students. - ➤ Late night and early morning storms on Sunday into Monday brought high winds and damage to Siouxland, with several severe thunderstorm warnings issued throughout the region — reports included gusts up to 70 mph, downed tree limbs, flooded roads in Sheldon, and a roof blown off a home, with additional severe weather expected.
