- ➤ At Street Eats, a summertime food truck event hosted by the South Sioux City Chamber of Commerce, Pablo's Taquizas is a weekly favorite serving exotic treats from a parking lot at 2021 Dakota Ave. A handful of food trucks offer new options for visitors — adding unique flavors along Dakota Avenue. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Lieber Construction sued Hausmann Construction in late June in Woodbury County District Court seeking $153,806 for work related to a county project. The case has been moved to federal court—further legal steps will be decided there. Sioux City Journal
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Weber, a former treasurer at Oto Community Ambulance Service, pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing $13,000 by using the service’s debit card—court documents show she held the position for five or six years. Sioux City Journal
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Drivers across the state noted that regular unleaded gas advanced by 2 cents to an average $2.95 per gallon on August 4 (according to AAA), and diesel prices rose by 5 cents to $3.58. West Texas Intermediate crude fell by $1.48 to $65.07 while Brent crude slipped by 34 cents to $68.33 (both below prices from last year). Sioux Country Radio

- ➤ The city council approved Family Wellness Associates, Inc.'s donation of the former Jewish Community Center at 525 14th St.—the property will be used as permanent supportive housing for those transitioning from homelessness. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City Council selected Craig Clark as the new city manager — his negotiated contract will be presented to the council for final approval later. Sioux City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Sioux City-based Iowa Poison Control Center is celebrating 25 years of reducing poisonings and saving healthcare costs as it serves the state from its location in the MidAmerican Energy building downtown—having started answering calls on Sept. 1, 2000—and now employs specialized staff to provide life-saving emergency guidance for poisonings and overdoses.
