- ➤ In 1975, Vietnamese refugees Nguyen Son Lam and his wife Suong arrived in Sioux City on Saturday and were welcomed at the Municipal Airport by local hosts Mr. and Mrs. Papajohn—coming from Fort Chaffee, Ark.—and stayed with them until their new apartment was ready. The refugees were sponsored by St. Luke Lutheran Church. Sioux City Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Sioux City Schools have launched new career academies and pathways as students will be welcomed back on Tuesday. The career academy at South Sioux City High School will prepare students for in-demand workforces after graduation — marking the first year of the program for the 2025-26 school year. - ➤ The city council will review an agreement that will let the city accept up to $865,000 in Iowa Levee Improvement Funds for engineering design and construction of the Big Sioux River levee extension—city documents show it is on the agenda. Sioux City Journal
