CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City sex offender Hulit was sentenced to federal prison after authorities arrested him on November 18 in Winnebago, Nebraska—he was found living on the Winnebago Indian Reservation, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Taxavier Ford, a 29-year-old Alta man, pleaded guilty on Aug. 11 in federal court to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm after officers pulled him over in Storm Lake for tinted windows; a search uncovered a loaded gun—he remains free on bond awaiting sentencing and faces up to 15 years and a $250,000 fine. - ➤ The Gilchrist Foundation recently awarded a $20,000 grant to the Mass Communication Department at WIT to cover startup costs for a new student-run radio station—this project will give local students hands-on experience in media production. Sioux City Journal
