COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Friday, August 15, five members of the Sioux City Valley of Scottish Rite Masons laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C. — they were chosen to represent Iowa’s Scottish Rite community.  KTIV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dylan Grimsley started a new business —Mold Dog Alert— after adopting a 10-month-old shelter dog named Woody who was trained in Florida to detect mold, and the former police officer began the venture in early July. He says Woody can spot hundreds of mold species in homes and businesses.  Sioux City Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mater Dei Parish and Siouxland Catholic lay leaders will host 'A Light for My Path:' a Catholic spirituality conference on Sept. 26-27 at the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City—guest speakers will present on key aspects of faith.  Sioux City Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Sioux City's Cone Park at 3800 Line Drive broke its revenue record for fiscal year 2025—earning $346,091 which is more than the $346,003 set in FY 2023—and showed a rebound after a weak winter in 2024.  Sioux City Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Agape Community Services received a $2 million check from Iowa’s Health and Human Services Department, bringing the organization closer to opening a cognitive and faith-based treatment center on 28th Street near the new Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center in Sioux City. The facility will break ground this fall—its capital campaign kicked off Friday to raise the final $1.7 million needed for construction.  KTIV
