Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 17th of August.
Good morning, Sioux City.
The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska launched Tribal Tea Co., a premium herbal tea supplier owned by Ho-Chunk Inc. that donates 10% of its profits to mental health organizations in Native American communities—its non-caffeinated blends are sold online and in select local shops including SweetWater Cafe in Sioux City.
Ho-Chunk opened a new 5/8th mile horse track in South Sioux City that drew fans for racing, giveaways — and a Kentucky Derby hat contest; a casino will open next.
The event marks a new entertainment spot that will boost local business.
Sioux City Council will consider a request on Monday for a 90-day stay of demolition of a 14-unit apartment building at 901—913 Nebraska St. with a $100,000 bond while also addressing a mural agreement.
