COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sioux City will host the Downtown Tailgate event on September 27 from 11 a.m. — 9 p.m. as a community fundraising day featuring college football, live entertainment, food, and family fun.  Sioux City Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Nexstar Media Group, owner of KCAU, will buy Tegna for $6.2 billion for $22 per share if regulators approve the merger—this deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026 and may let the company compete with big tech and media groups.  Sioux City Journal
  • U.S. Senator Joni Ernst named Orange City Family Animal Care as Small Business of the Week—a local clinic founded in 1984 that now has a 10-person team and is building a larger downtown facility to support local schools and first responders.  Sioux Country Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sioux City venues are gearing up for a busy fall season—several recent concert announcements have led promoters to focus on strong ticket sales. Board members at a local advisory meeting said quick ticket sales help book popular acts and urged fans to buy tickets early.  KTIV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northwest Iowa Community College honored its Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance students for their work at the Thunder in the Valley event held July 10th through 12th in Rock Valley when Valley Pullers donated $3,000. The gift will fund two $1,000 scholarships for technical programs and support the Heavy Equipment program—recognizing the students' volunteer spirit.  Sioux Country Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials from the Disaster Case Advocacy Program will visit Woodbury County flood survivors to guide them on applying for FEMA, insurance, SBA and other recovery programs — helping them access vital community resources.  Sioux City Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Warming Shelter purchased the southeast grass lot from Woodbury County next to its building, giving the shelter full control of the remaining land on its block. The move may let the shelter expand its services.  Sioux City Journal
  • A developer has planned a project to grow Sioux City's Outer Drive into an area with homes, stores and offices similar to Sunnybrook. The project (which is still being planned) will change the rural stretch in the coming years.  Sioux City Journal
