- ➤ Camp High Hopes in Sioux City is set to serve more than 550 campers this summer and is running a major capital campaign to build a 14,800-square-foot rec center—designed for indoor sports, classrooms and to free up camper and staff housing. The $6 million campaign is already at 67% of its goal and will expand essential services for children, teens and adults with special needs. Sioux City Journal
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Three people died and one was injured when a residential fire broke out at a home on 430th Street northwest of Granville on Monday at 4:58 a.m.—fire crews from Granville and Hospers responded and the cause remains under investigation. Sioux Country Radio
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Sanford Health announced that Lewis Drug, a family-owned pharmacy chain with 60 locations, will join Sanford Health in the fall while keeping its brand identity and CEO Mark Griffin in an advisory role—this merger will add 1,300 employees and expand pharmacy services across local and rural communities. The deal builds on over 25 years of collaboration to improve access to medications. Sioux Country Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City police are set to train 10 to 12 new officers to fly drones this month, joining the three Part 107 licensed pilots who currently operate seven drones. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Senator Joni Ernst announced Tuesday in a video that she will not run for re-election in 2026—she cited changing family needs including caring for her aging parents and young grandchildren. She had promised to serve only two terms—leaving her seat open for future candidates. KTIV

- ➤ UnityPoint has taken over the hospital formerly known as MercyOne in Sioux City—bringing new management and operational changes to local healthcare services. Sioux City Journal
