  • The Golden Corral Buffet & Grill at Lakeport Commons is being demolished as AutoZone (which purchased the property) plans to redevelop the site.  Sioux City Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rock Valley Community Schools will receive $1.8M in FEMA funding to repair classrooms, the gym, and the auditorium damaged by last summer’s flood—Congressman Randy Feenstra called the aid a key step in the district’s recovery. Superintendent Matt Van Voorst said the funds will be used to restore safe learning environments for students.  Sioux Country Radio
  • Dordt University was named Iowa’s top Christian college and ranked 22nd nationally in Niche’s 2026 rankings—an honor based on institutional data and student reviews. Officials say the ranking reflects the university’s strong focus on academics and a faith-based campus culture.  Sioux Country Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tyler Sullivan from Iowa City is nearly done with his mission to run one mile in every Iowa county as he has finished 97 counties including a recent run in Lake View—he spent 10 years exploring small towns, writing over 400 poems, and will run in the remaining counties in the coming years.  KTIV
