Good morning, Sioux City.

In 1950, 18-year-old Beverly Johnson was crowned Sioux City Sue after a two-month contest judged by bandleader Lou Breese—6000 fans filled the municipal auditorium to applaud her selection.

She then received a Hollywood invitation and began public appearances as Sioux City's new beauty queen.

Today, Sioux City Council will consider awarding a $96,787.50 contract for repairs to the Sergeant Floyd Monument— a move intended to maintain the historic site for the community.
