BUSINESS NEWS

  • Two 20-somethings are set to open T&J's 2Fire — a new food truck planned for Sioux City that will serve unique meals for local residents. They will launch soon, aiming to bring a fresh twist to the area's dining choices.  Sioux City Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Saint Bernard Club of America convened its 2025 National Event on Sunday at the South Sioux City Marriott Riverfront and the event will run through the coming days—bringing local club members and visitors together.  Sioux City Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sioux City Council awarded a $96,787.50 contract on Monday to McGill Restoration, Inc.—to repair the Sergeant Floyd Monument and preserve it for another 25 years. The council also approved interim City Manager Mike Collett and a $6 million redevelopment plan to convert the former Crescent Park Elementary into 36 apartments expected to be finished by the end of 2027.  Sioux City Journal
  • State Rep. Taylor Collins from Mediapolis said educators who post messages praising the death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk should be fired—he described such posts as wrong. The Board of Regents has begun investigating social media posts at public universities and a school district in Oskaloosa fired a teacher for similar remarks.  KTIV

  • Sioux City Community Schools has signed an eight-year agreement with Morningside University — giving the Mustangs baseball team a new home at East High School. The deal sets the stage for the team to develop its program with a stable location.  Sioux City Journal
