GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City Council awarded a $96,787.50 contract on Monday to McGill Restoration, Inc.—to repair the Sergeant Floyd Monument and preserve it for another 25 years. The council also approved interim City Manager Mike Collett and a $6 million redevelopment plan to convert the former Crescent Park Elementary into 36 apartments expected to be finished by the end of 2027. - ➤ State Rep. Taylor Collins from Mediapolis said educators who post messages praising the death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk should be fired—he described such posts as wrong. The Board of Regents has begun investigating social media posts at public universities and a school district in Oskaloosa fired a teacher for similar remarks. KTIV
