COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Sioux County Ag Expo Center in Sioux Center will host its first Fall Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 18, featuring over 30 vendors, horse-drawn hayrides, a bouncy house, live music, and food trucks with seasonal favorites. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and the event ends around 8:00 p.m. — organizers hope it will grow into an annual tradition — as community members gather for the new festival. Sioux Country Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Sioux City school board approved the retention of an independent investigator — for a personnel matter — and will provide further details as the review unfolds. Sioux City Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flood experts are boosting monitor systems in northwest Iowa as the Iowa Flood Center will get $1.75 million from FEMA to install 50 new sensors—some replacing older ones—to improve real-time river and rain data from key areas. The project will begin ordering parts in January and deploy equipment next summer and fall—ensuring the system is ready for the 2027 flood season. KTIV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Sioux City will buy eight new houses built by the Career Academy for a planned development—students will continue to build one home each year as part of their ongoing project. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Mayor Jon Winkel said that Sergeant Bluff is building a new cemetery to meet the needs of a growing population. Work on the project is underway — officials expect the new cemetery to provide more burial space as the city expands. Sioux City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ LifeServe Blood Center will host a blood drive at the Siouxland Chamber (101 Pierce Street) on Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to support patients who depend on blood transfusions; those unable to join may call the center to schedule another appointment. KTIV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Players from Northwestern College were injured in a bus crash on Saturday when their bus struck a light pole near Briar Cliff’s football field in Sioux City+ five players were hospitalized and although the game was delayed four hours and 10 players did not play, the team rallied to win 28 to 0.
