- ➤ Sac City launched an art contest inspired by a Sioux City man's mischief when he painted flowers on manhole covers + more than 30 covers have been chosen for painting by groups including police and churches; entries are due by Sunday with the winning design set to earn a $100 prize. KTIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Sioux City Public Schools Foundation is running its Clothes the Gap program to help nearly 70 percent of district students and their families get the clothing they need for winter—keeping kids warm for the holidays. Sioux City Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Last month, UnityPoint Health’s St. Luke’s in Sioux City signed an agreement with the Iowa Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Bureau that placed its trauma center on probation for one year due to repeated regulatory violations. The hospital must now submit a new corrective plan and quarterly reports—if it cannot fix the issues, it can apply for a lower Level IV status requiring patients to be taken elsewhere.
