COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tuesday morning, the Food Bank of Siouxland received 150 turkeys donated by Sparklight and Southern Hills HyVee to help feed 150 families for Thanksgiving.  Sioux City Journal
  • Sioux City's Neighborhood Services Division runs a Coordinated Entry program that assesses homeless individuals and places them on a federally funded waitlist based on their vulnerability—currently, 340 people are waiting for housing help. Local agencies refer these individuals to emergency shelters, transitional housing and other support services to address their needs.  KTIV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Six weeks after closing, Main Street Theatres answered a court petition from YAM 4th Street Promenade that claimed the operator owes at least $65,000 in rent from August and September. The company denied receiving any written demand and said YAM breached the lease by locking it out before the Sioux City International Film Festival—causing lost profits and a damaged reputation.  KTIV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dordt University was ranked fourth in Iowa in the newly released 2026 Best Colleges list by Research.com (which analyzed over 6,000 institutions using more than 400 metrics) and earned recognition for its affordability, educational quality and alumni outcomes. It also appeared on the Most Popular Colleges list (ranking ninth) and the Best Value Colleges list, ranking twelfth.  Sioux Country Radio
  • The Kingsley-Pierson district is setting up up to 10 makeshift classrooms using large curtains borrowed from the Plymouth County Fairgrounds for 137 high school students at the Kingsley Community Center. The temporary arrangement — a short-term solution — will let classes continue until a permanent space is arranged.  Sioux City Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Siouxlanders learned that the June E. Nylen Cancer Center became a hospital outpatient department under its new legal name UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s June E. Nylen Cancer Center; its providers, staff, and patient appointments remain unchanged—this change is meant to strengthen long-term sustainability and quality care.  KTIV
