- ➤ Sioux City officials proclaimed the 23rd Annual Memorial March to Honor Lost Children — Monica Good Dawn of the Winnebago Tribe thanked the city for recognizing its importance. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ Sioux City's Gospel Mission will host Thanksgiving meals on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. at 500 Bluff Street—local residents are invited to join a community meal. Sioux City Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Monday's Sioux City school board meeting, Cyndi Hanson joined the board—Dan Greenwell left and Jan George with Treyla Lee were reelected to board leadership. Sioux City Journal
- ➤ On Monday night, the Sioux City Community School District board took the oath by welcoming new member Cyndi Hanson for a four-year term — Jan George was re-elected president and Treyla Lee became vice president. The board also continued its work while Superintendent Dr. Juan Córdova remains on paid administrative leave and a sealed termination recommendation for a staff member is in process with a hearing expected within 20 to 40 days. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Nebraska-based grain dealer filed for Chapter 11, leaving Iowa farmers who had unpaid grain sold to Hansen-Mueller Co. before November 17 with 120 days to file written indemnity claims—claims that may cover up to 90% of unpaid sales with a $400,000 limit. The Iowa Department of Agriculture said its Grain Indemnity Fund holds $12.6 million and does not plan to reinstate fee collections—ensuring support for affected producers. KTIV
- ➤ The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved $818,000 for Camp High Hopes on its Sioux City campus to build a new multi-purpose adaptive recreation center for kids, teens and adults with disabilities, special needs and chronic illnesses. The nearly 15,000-square-foot facility, which will include a gym and two classrooms, is part of a $4.1-million project that still needs about $1-million to complete its funding. KTIV
