If you live in the Sergeant Bluff-Luton school district, a year of waiting is over. Supporters approved a nearly identical measure Tuesday after falling agonizingly short a year ago. KTIV says unofficial results show the bond cleared the over 60% supermajority it needed.

The money pays for a new kindergarten through second-grade school and for demolishing the current primary school. District administrators, led by Superintendent Chad Janzen, put the measure on the ballot after repeated indoor sewage backups from an outdated wastewater line, including one in the weeks before the election. The 1959 design also lacks a modern security vestibule.
